Prophetic Word: Draw Some Out Now

And Jesus said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.

John 2:8

The more I delve into the life of Jesus, the more I am filled with awe at how He performed miracles in the ordinary and mundane rhythms of life. His miracles were not about showmanship or creating a spectacle. They were about intention and purpose, often unfolding in the quiet corners of life without fanfare, yet leaving a profound impact.

Jesus invites us to be active participants in His miracles. This is not a passive experience, but a journey of faith and obedience that brings us closer to our King. All we need to do is follow His instructions.

In John 2, Jesus is attending a wedding in Cana when the wine runs out. This event is well-known because it marks Jesus's first miracle. To understand the story better, it's important to know that Jesus had just returned from the wilderness, where He faced temptation from Satan and received help from angels. He was at the wedding with some of His disciples and His mother was there. Notably, there were unnamed servants at the wedding, likely people on the fringe of society. These individuals, often overlooked, were the very ones Jesus cared deeply about and actively involved in His mission.

Running out of wine at a wedding was a major issue at that time because it would have caused great embarrassment for the bride and groom. The bride and groom, likely the Lord’s relatives, faced the prospect of social disgrace on what should have been the happiest day of their lives.

Mary, aware of the problem, informed her son about the situation.

God used her to push Jesus into purpose even though He did not feel like it was His time. Mary didn't tell Jesus what to do – rather, she gave the servants simple instructions: “Whatever He says to you, do it” (John 2:5).

The Holy Spirit plays a similar role in your life. He is your Comforter, Advocate, and Helper, gently guiding and nudging you forward, even when you feel unprepared and afraid.

Whatever He says to you, do it

CARRY WHAT JESUS HAS GIVEN YOU

At the wedding, there were six stone jars used for purification nearby. Jesus instructed the servants to fill these jars with water, and they filled them to the brim (John 2:7). They put in their full effort and gave it their all. By filling the jars to the brim, the servants ensured that they were following Jesus' instructions completely, showing their diligence and thoroughness in their task.

This act also symbolized the abundance and completeness of the miracle that Jesus was about to perform.

The servants likely had no idea that Jesus was about to perform a miracle. They were simply following His instructions, even though the task seemed mundane and confusing. These jars were usually used for ceremonial washing, not for serving wine.

As the servants diligently filled the jars by drawing water from a deep well, Jesus was moved to act at some point.

With the jars now filled with water, Jesus asked the servants to take the next step in faith. They were to present what they had drawn. Pay close attention to this next part, as it may reflect where you are in your walk with Christ.

Jesus instructed the servants, "Now draw some out and carry it to the master of the feast." And they carried it (John 2:8).

I don't know what your "it" is, but the Lord is calling you to draw it out and bring it to Him.

Whatever you have been steadfastly working on, repeatedly filling your jar and immersing it in the living water of Christ, the Lord now asks you to bring it to Him.

Perhaps your "it" has been a heartfelt devotion to studying the Word of God. Perhaps it is your tireless efforts in ministry, serving others and sharing the gospel without any fanfare or large audience. It could be your personal journey of spiritual growth, striving to align your life more closely with Christ's teachings. Maybe it is your dedication to acts of service, pouring out love to those in need or uplifting people through kind words. It might even be the challenging work of forgiving someone who has wronged you, or maintaining your faith and trust in God during a difficult season.

Or it might be your relentless pursuit of academic or career excellence, investing time and energy into your dreams to reach your aspirations. Through a repetitive action, God is going to perform a miracle in what seems normal and ordinary. Just give it all to Him.

Watch how Jesus transforms a natural element—like water—into something supernatural, filled with His glory, majesty, and power.

God saves the best wine for last.

DRAW SOME OUT

There has been a process in your life that is now about to yield results. More than likely, just like the servants, this miracle will be a private matter that only you and Jesus know about. Years ago, you decided to follow Jesus at all costs. While people chased the corporate ladder, you ran after Jesus with all your heart and soul and desired to climb the Kingdom ladder.

You had little understanding of what God was even doing in your life. You just took your empty heart and allowed God to fill you up repeatedly with His love and mercy. As you repeated a process with faithfulness, Jesus got to work.

At some point, things shifted. Now, the Lord is about to call you to step forward, and He will ask you to draw some out and carry what you have in your hands.

It’s time to present what God has given you.

Some people might be impressed with what you carry, but you will know it only came from the Lord Almighty.

He, and He alone, will get the glory.

This move requires faith. But you will witness a miracle unfold right before your eyes.

It might even be frightening.

The servants didn’t know the water had turned into wine until they presented it to the master of ceremonies.

Jesus spoke a word, and they acted.

I imagine they questioned the strange instructions internally.

Still, they obeyed.

Filling the jars wasn’t the hard part — now they had to draw some out and present what they held without knowing the final result.

A few steps might be all it takes for your miracle.

As you step forward and put your faith into action, Jesus will intercede on your behalf. God will add His extraordinary touch to your ordinary efforts.

What seems like a delay in the regular rhythm of your life has a purpose. The detour will lead you to your destiny, and perhaps a new direction you never saw coming. It will be a surprise.

When Jesus commands something, He expects immediate action. You will be amazed at what He does.

Just do it. NOW.

The Greek word Jesus used for 'now' in the scripture signifies an urgent appeal to act on His instructions without delay.

Beloved, draw some out now

John 2:1-11

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”

“Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.

Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.

Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”

They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
